2015, a blur.

wow. 2015 went by way fast! lots happened and once again we were completely silent on our website. sorry about that. rest assured with a new record coming the first half of 2016, we will be doing some stuff to get our site back up to speed!

where to start?

new record! maybe we can start there.

since chase the ghost, once or twice a year we would get together as a band and work on tunes together. we’d refine and share ideas when apart, but these sessions were when the bulk of the work got done.

we finished writing the core album late 2014 with some fine tuning earlier this year. in october, we went into the studio in what was a new (but amazing) experience for us: for every release there have been a few constants. we normally would do some if not all tracking at the compound studio (in signal hill California coincidentally) and for the majority of mixing and producing support we worked with our dear friend and confidant, patrick murphy. he’s like our 5th member and we owe a lot to how great everything post our self titled ep sounds. this time around, work obligations kept him from playing a major role and due to personal stuff (Dave was welcoming a baby into his family and other life happenings), there was a brief window we had to coordinate tracking this new record, so we decided it best to record in brooklyn due to everyone’s availability. rishi has been living in London for the past year and a half and nyc is a great midpoint.

for 4 days we entered the terrific studio g with our pal tony maimone handling the boards assisted by mike jinno. A new set of tunes, a new set of dudes, a new location, lots of new toys in the studio to play, and a new enthusiasm for making a record. we had an incredible time. we tracked the core instruments for all songs the first 3 days and pounded out over 40 extra parts on the last day! wild.

that left us with 9 songs for an album we are calling “alturas”

it’s currently being mixed by a fella named tony spica (who’s good friends with murphy) in Los Angeles, and as of writing this 2 songs are wrapped.

artwork, song titles, release details etc are all being worked on now but planning is well on its way.

we promise more info on the album soon, but we will leave you with this: we are extremely proud of it and excited to get it out to you as soon as possible.

what else?

we are already ideating on another release with the plethora of ideas and sketches that we didn’t finish or didn’t fit with this selection of songs. It’s going to be very chill. we might even call it signal chill. haha

oh… And what yearly recap would be complete without a “records and songs we enjoyed” list of the year.

before we go we’d like to say a heartfelt and sincere thanks for your support. it means more than the words on this post could ever capture.

with love and best wishes for a wonderful 2016 to you all.

This is wonderful news! My heart always speeds up a little when your songs come on my Pandora station. That achingly wistful vibe you’ve perfected just crushes me. I look forward to hearing what you’ve been up to.
