For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Healy posed his theory of telescopic evolution in Richard Linklater’s film, Waking Life. His monologue in the film inspired much of the most recent Signal Hill album, More After We’re Gone. A vocal sample from Dr. Healy’s scene is featured in track 4 of the album, entitled “Men Before Them“.

When we added the sample to the tune, Tim emailed Dr. Healy for his blessing and sent him a copy of the tune. He enjoyed the song and was very generous in letting us use the sample for the album.

Since Tim visits Austin frequently, he made it a mission to one time drop by St. Edward’s University (where Dr.Healy works)  and share with him a copy of the record.  Tim called his office on Tuesday morning asking if he could swing by and Dr. Healy cheerfully said yes!

Tim really enjoyed sharing time with Dr. Healy, who he characterized as super friendly, charismatic, and genuine. hope this finds you well! we wanted to share with you more news about the album, and other merch that will be available shortly!

first of all… we will be releasing our debut full length album (more after we’re gone) as a high quality digital download as well as cd version. the digital release and pre-order for the cd will occur early may (finalizing the dates now). the physical version will be shipped to pre-order customers early june, and available else were on the 9th of june. we are very excited to have this thing completed and share it with you all! heres a sample of the artwork:

for folks in the LA area, we will be having a cd release party on june 6th at pehrspace with our friends beware of safety and timonium.

also, we are doing a new t shirt order – which we will have in stock (available through our site and shows only). special thanks to meg kalinowski for coming up with the graphic and our pal blake kimball for printing them! they are printed on the organic american apparel fine jersey short sleeve shirts!
