we are pleased to announce that the “chase the ghost” preorder and full album stream has begun!

you can preorder the cd or limited 2xLP vinyl (100 copies clear or 150 white) from sun sea sky productions. both options come with an immediate download of the album. the first 100 orders will receive a signed “chase the ghost” poster and a 4-pack of buttons. the physical goods will ship on or near april 30th, which will also serve as the “street” date for which the album will be available from other retailers and online streaming services.

we are so excited to share this with you and we hope you enjoy the album as much as we do.

there are many a’ folk who helped us greatly with this release, however we couldn’t live with ourselves without thanking patrick murphy. he really has been the 5th member of signal hill. without him, this record (as well as “more after we’re gone” and “distance”) would not be possible. his meticulous attention to detail, and him just “getting us”, made bi-coastal mixing achievable. we are forever grateful to you big guy!

earlier this month, we played in los angeles for the first time in over 2.5 years. many thanks to adam and pauline over at pehrspace, tad piecka, junghaus, the littlest viking, and for all of you that came! it meant a lot seeing some familiar faces coupled with some new ones, we are humbled that you still care! it really was a memorable night for us. tad covered gloria by mineral, it was rad seeing junghaus which has 2 former members of timonium for the first time, and the littlest viking does what they do = shred seriously hard, and have some of the best in-between jam banter around. needless to say, it was an honor to share our return to LA with them.  our set list for anyone interested in those things was this (which we played 3 songs off the new record for the first time ever ):

hope this note finds you doing well! lots of things have been happening here in the signal hill camp and  we had a few exciting updates that we wanted to quickly share!

firstly, our new record

so as you may or may not know, we recorded a new album in june. its called "chase the ghost". we wrote this album entirely as a bi-coastal band, and recorded it together in signal hill, ca at the compound studio with our buddies jeff lewis, dave macewan, and patrick murphy.

the album has 9 songs, and runs just over 50 minutes in length.

speaking of pressing. we have more exciting news! we are happy to announce that this record will be released on Sun Sea Sky Productions.  Sun Sea Sky is a fully independent label that has built an impressive resume of stellar acts that cross many genres. we are excited to be working with such a diverse, music-loving, band-friendly indie label run by a doode who believes in both us and this release.

chase the ghost will be available via super limited double LP, CD, and digital formats. both the official release date and pre-order, which will include other goodies, will be announced very soon!

upcoming show in los angeles

writing this album on two different coasts also means we haven't played any of these songs in front of anyone yet. well, that's about to change. we are playing our first show in LA in over 2 years! (seriously it has been that long?) we are heading to our home away from home, pehrspace, where will be playing a few old tunes, and debuting a few of new tunes as well. our ol' pals the littlest viking (who have a totally kick ass record that just came out) and tad piecka from the band beware of safety will be playing some tunes as well. view the event on facebook, and the flyer/poster below.

we know, you've been reading this whole email and all you really wanted was a free download! well, alas – you have made it to the download portion. well, almost! let us start by giving some background info.

all india radio, our good friends out of melbourne, australia did a crowdsource funded new record called "red shadow landing", which came out last month. as part of their funding options, there was the option to pay, and have all india radio remix one of your songs. well, we love them. so when the opportunity to help them fund a record and get a remix was presented, we figured it was a win, win! the remix they created for us was of our b-side tune "down to bed" (off of the CA is too long 7").

so download it for free and be sure to check out their new album!

how goes it? things are going pretty well here, and hope the same in your world.

wanted to pass along a couple of quick updates which we have neglected to pass along to our site, and instead, been doing so via our facebook page  (sorry about that!)

anyhow, the new album – chase the ghost – is progressing nicely! we tracked some violin over the labor day holiday, and mixing is underway. if all things go according to what we would consider “very loose plans”, we should have this sucker out in november/december  (maybe somewhat of a preview before that!). we promise to share any and all notable album updates as soon as we have em’.

right about this time last year, we played our first ever east coast shows. our friends max and nil tiberi shot some live videos of our set from the charleston in brooklyn, ny. here are the videos for “the dead vineyard” and “freelance forest”.
